One dead after fatal hit-and-run in Clairemont
CLAIREMONT (KUSI) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver left the scene in the Clairemont section of San Diego Thursday, police said.
According to San Diego Police, a female – approximately 60-years-old – was crossing eastbound midblock 4300 Clairemont Dr. A black Ford Fusion was traveling southbound 4300 Clairemont Dr at a high rate of speed in the #1 lane.
The vehicle changed lanes from the #1 lane to the #2 lane striking the female.
The victim was struck about 8:50 p.m. on Clairemont Drive at Hiawatha Way and pronounced dead at the scene, Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department said.
The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene southbound 4300 Clairemont Dr. The vehicle was located at 3800 Chippewa Ct and is in police custody.
Police are looking for a white female in her 20’s, 5’4-5’5 with a ponytail. She was wearing a jacket and jeans.
San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating.
