One dead after Ford Mustang crashed off I-5 ramp in National City

NATIONAL CITY (KUSI) – A motorist died today after crashing off Interstate 5, CHP officials said.

The accident happened at 1:22 p.m. when a black Ford Mustang traveling north on I-5 swerved, went off the freeway and landed on Roosevelt Avenue near Eighth Street, according to a CHP incident report.

Firefighters cut apart the Mustang to reach the driver, who was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead about 40 minutes after the crash, according to the CHP. A description of the person was not immediately available.
