One dead, four injured in unincorporated Escondido crash

ESCONDIDO (KUSI) — One person is dead and four more are injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Escondido Wednesday. Authorities are on scene after a fatal crash in Escondido Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m at the intersection of Champagne Boulevard and Mountain Meadow Road in the Jesmond Dene area of unincorporated
Escondido, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene.

Four people are reportedly trapped inside vehicles, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

The wreck left traffic lanes closed at the road crossing pending completion of accident-scene investigation and cleanup, the CHP reported.
