One dead in early morning rollover crash
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 27-year-old man was killed Friday morning when his pickup
rolled out of control on Interstate 5 in La Jolla, the California Highway
Patrol reported.
The Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Regino Miranda III
of San Diego.
Miranda lost control of his Chevy Silverado on the State Route 52
offramp to Interstate 5 about 1:35 a.m. The pickup went off the road on State
Route 52, down an embankment and rolled several times before landing on the
southbound lane of Interstate 5, a CHP dispatcher said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The overturned truck blocked several lanes of traffic. Motorists
reported hitting the debris, the dispatcher said.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 1:58 a.m., closing both sides of state
Route 52 and diverting traffic to the northbound lanes of Interstate 5.
The lanes were closed for more than four hours while crews cleared the
debris. All lanes were reopened by 6:15 a.m.
