The official press release from California Highway Patrol is pasted below:
On September 28, 2018, at approximately 6:25 AM, a 53 year old male from El Cajon and 21 year old female from El Cajon were riding in a 1992 Honda Accord on Wildcat Canyon Road southbound, north of Willow Road at a high rate of speed. At this time, it is unknown which of the two occupants were driving the Honda. At the same time, a 43 year old female from Santee was driving a 2013 Porsche Cayenne on Wildcat Canyon Road northbound, north of Willow Road. While proceeding southbound, the driver of the Honda allowed the vehicle to travel to the right towards a raised concrete curb located on the west road edge of Wildcat Canyon Road. The driver then turned the vehicle back to the left and veered into the northbound lane directly into the path of the Porsche.
The two vehicles collided broadside into each other. The force of the impact split the Honda in half. As a result, the male and the female were ejected from the Honda and landed on the roadway. Emergency personnel arrived on scene. The male sustained major injuries and died on scene. The female who was in the Honda also sustained major injuries and was flown via air ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego where she succumbed to her injuries. The female in the Porsche sustained major injuries, was taken via ground ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and is expected to survive. It is believed all occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
