One dead, one severely injured in Vista motorcycle accident

VISTA (CNS) – A 34-year-old Oceanside man was hospitalized Thursday with major injuries to his legs following a North County traffic collision in which a 49-year-old Vista man was thrown from his motorcycle and died, authorities said.

The fatality at Hutchison Street and East Vista Way occurred about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt.

The motorcyclist broadsided a 2003 Ford Taurus while riding his 2007 Yamaha R1, Bettencourt said in a statement. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics took the Taurus driver to Palomar Medical Center with major injuries to his legs, Bettencourt said.
