One injured in officer-involved shooting in Lemon Grove

LEMON GROVE (KUSI) — A deputy-involved shooting in Lemon Grove left one man injured Monday night, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s office.

Just after 6:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 2100 block of Camino de las Palmas to conduct a wellness check on a person who had been acting suicidal.

When deputies responded to the scene in Lemon Grove, “things escalated and deputies shot the male,” according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s office.

The man was responsive and was taken to the hospital. There were no other injuries.

The names of the deputies involved in the shooting were withheld, but will be released “within the next week,” Blevins said.

Detectives with the sheriff’s homicide unit, which reviews all deputy- involved shootings, were investigating the incident.

The sheriff’s department tweeted a link reminding anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts, or anyone who knows a person having such thoughts, to seek help by calling the county’s crisis hotline at 888-724-7240 or visiting up2sd.org.
