One premature twin born to Padres Gyorko on neonatal intensive care watch
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – One of the premature twin boys born to Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko and wife Karley was being watched closely Thursday in the neonatal intensive care unit at Sharp Healthcare.
According to Sharp, the twins, Kadin and Brody, the couple’s first children, were born early, and doctors wanted to watch Kadin for a few days. Brody is at home with his parents.
Jedd and Karley Gyorko plan to make themselves available to the news media Friday.
Doctors said Kadin was doing well – just premature.
Gyorko, a second-year major leaguer, arrived from San Francisco, where the Padres concluded a long road trip this week, just in time for the birth of the twins on Monday.
Gyorko was with the Padres, when they lost 3-2 on Wednesday, then back at the hospital today, according to Sharp Healthcare.
He and Karley are able to stay connected with Kadin via a webcam system made possible by donations. The system enables parents – such as members of the military overseas – to see their newborns.
