Orange Glen 41, El Cajon Valley 20

Week 6 of the Prep Pigskin Report showcased the El Cajon Valley Braves (2-2) visiting the undefeated Orange Glen Patriots (5-0). Pre-Game spotlighted many festivities. The Patriots honored alum Dylan Aste’s, by retiring his #20 jersey. Next, the Orange Glen youth football and cheer teams were introduced to the community. The homecoming court presentation followed. Last, Coach Jason Patterson was awarded the San Diego Charger high school football coach of the week.

After an action packed homecoming pre-game, the two ground based teams kicked off for battle. The Braves started with an impressive 50 second drive, capped off by a #22 RB Shearin Matthew 32 yard touchdown sprint. Patriot QB #7 Christian Morales evened the score, by tearing off a 78 yard touchdown run. Morales followed up with a 21 yard TD strike to RB Kamara Johnson. Braves RB Matthew tied the game up with another ankle breaking 32 yard touchdown run. The Patriots ended the first half with a 43 yard field goal. The halftime score was Orange Glen 17 and El Cajon Valley 14.

The second half truly distinguished who was the more dominant team. Patriots RB #35 Roger Rickman literally carried his team to a dominant lead. Rickman pounded his way down the field and set up a 1 yard TD blast to put the Patriots up 25 – 14. Orange Glen really pulled away after another TD run by Jaelen Walker, increasing the score to 33 – 14. Work horse Rickman put the nail in the coffin with a 4 yard TD run. Shifty and speedy Braves RB Shearin Matthew added to his stellar night with a 40 yard touchdown blast.

The two stars of the night were Patriots RB Roger Rickman and Braves RB Shearin Matthew. Rickman finished the night with over 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Matthew impressed with 3 stellar rushing touchdowns. Orange Glen Patriots won the running battle with a score of 41 – 20.
