Orange Glen Patriots 42, Clairemont Chieftains 14

Week one of Friday night lights has come to an end. I had the pleasure of watching the Orange Glen Patriots take on the Clairemont Chieftains.

Orange Glen started off strong as quarterback Ethan Villalobos handed off to Cael Patterson for a 2-yard touchdown run making it 7-0 Orange Glen. Clairemont responded with an 81-yard kick return, tying up the game at 7-7.

In the second quarter, Orange Glen came back with a 20-yard run once again by Patterson. Nothing has stopped the duo between Ethan Villalobos and Cael Patterson as he throws a 73-yard touchdown pass making it 21-7 in the second quarter.

Coming back from halftime at the start of the third quarter, quarterback Ryan Christiansen passed to Donovan Fitzgerald for a touchdown pass trying to make a comeback. The score was at 21-14 Orange Glen.

Orange Glen says not too fast. Ethan Villalobos handed it off to his right-hand man Cael Patterson for another reservation for six. But they weren’t finished in this possession; Orange Glen runs it in for a successful two-point conversion, 29-14, Orange Glen.

Orange Glen didn’t slow down the momentum in the last two quarters. The Patriots scored two more touchdowns to finish this game. Final score, 42-14, Orange Glen.

Next week, Orange Glen will play against Hoover, while Clairemont hits the road for an away game at Francis Parker.
