Parolee arrested following brief SWAT stand-off
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 28-year-old man was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of parole violation following a brief standoff with SWAT officers in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood, police said.
Joshua Phillip Gomez was seen waving a gun in the 5700 block of University Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.
Once there, officers learned Gomez was a parolee wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.
After Gomez locked himself inside his apartment and refused to cooperate, SWAT members were called out and Gomez surrendered a short time later, Delimitros said in a statement.
No one was injured.
Gomez was booked into San Diego Central Jail at 1:52 a.m. on suspicion of parole violation, according to online jail records.
