Parolee jailed for allegedly raping 88-year-old patient in Hillcrest nursing home
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A parolee was back behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of sneaking into a Hillcrest nursing home and raping an 88-year-old patient in her bed.
Lusean Arline, 48, was arrested Monday in connection with the alleged Oct. 27 sex assault in the busy commercial-residential district north of Balboa Park, according to San Diego police.
Arline allegedly entered the elder-care facility without permission before making his way into the octogenarian’s room and attacking her.
“The victim, along with other patients in the room, began screaming at Arline, which alerted staff members,” Lt. Carole Beason said. “When staff members responded, Arline ran away.”
Detectives collected evidence at the scene of the crime and submitted it to the FBI Combined DNA Index System, which identified Arline as the suspected perpetrator, according to Beason.
Police tracked down Arline with help from the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the lieutenant said.
Arline was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of forcible rape, assault, burglary, elder abuse and violation of terms of his parole. He was being held on $1 million bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
