Part of Highway 163 closed as police prevent possible bridge jumper
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Part of Highway 163 was shut down late Monday night amid reports of a teenage boy threatening to jump from a bridge in Hillcrest.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday night.
The teenager was sitting on the rail of the bridge when he was approached by a group of police officers attempting to talk him out of jumping. After one officer was able to distract him, the remaining officers grabbed him and took him off the bridge.
He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, and it was unclear at the time why the teenager was sitting on the rail of the bridge.
