‘Pay Your Own Way’ plan supports downtown stadium idea
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – An attorney is introducing a new plan that would support a new Chargers stadium downtown.
It’s called the "Pay Your Own Way" plan and Attorney Corey Briggs said it would put plans to expand the Convention Center in the hands of voters.
Briggs said his plan supports Convention Center space and a Chargers stadium downtown away from the waterpark.
Money to support this would come from increasing the hotel tax or TOT for visitors staying in San Diego hotels.
But not everyone is for this idea.
Former City Councilmember Donna Frye spoke with KUSI about this issue.
