Pedestrian identified after being hit by car on state Route 76
PALA (KUSI) – The identity of a pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend on state Route 76 was made public Tuesday morning.
59-year-old Michael Alan Lewis, according to witnesses, jumped across the freeway and attempted to make his way through traffic just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning when he was struck by a Honda CRV traveling in the eastbound lanes.
The driver, a 23-year-old female, saw the victim but could not avoid him as he attempted to travel across the freeway. After the impact, the driver made her way to Harrah's Resort Southern California to call for help.
Lewis died at the scene, despite efforts by paramedics to resuscitate him.
