Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck

CHULA VISTA (CNS) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista early Sunday and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they saw the woman attempting to cross Broadway outside of a crosswalk near C Street around 1:30 a.m. She was struck by the southbound vehicle, according to a Chula Vista police statement.

Medics took the woman to UCSD Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. Police said she was listed in critical condition, but was expected to survive.

The driver stopped at the scene following the crash, and was determined to not be under the influence of alcohol, according to the police.
