Pedestrian killed on freeway near Sports Arena

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a garbage truck on a freeway offramp in the Sports Arena area early Thursday, authorities said.

The fatality on the westbound Interstate 8 offramp to Rosecrans Street was reported at 4:46 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which said the freeway exit would be closed for investigators until further notice.
