Pedestrian severely injured after being struck by car

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 22-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries Thursday when a car struck him on a Skyline-area street, authorities reported.

Moments before the accident occurred, a westbound vehicle narrowly missed the man as he ran across the 6500 block of Imperial Avenue about 2:40 p.m., according to San Diego police.

He then entered the eastbound side of the road, where a 1997 Chevrolet Impala hit him. Medics took him to a hospital for treatment of a severe head injury, Officer Frank Cali said.
