Pedestrian struck after stumbling into roadway
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A 20-year-old man, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, was struck by a car after he stumbled and fell onto a street in the Mission Valley East neighborhood, but he was expected to recover.
The collision took place about 9:10 p.m. Friday, in the 7500 block of Friars Road, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
The pedestrian had just crossed the street walking toward the off-ramp from northbound Route 163 and was on the sidewalk when he apparently lost his
balance and fell onto Friars Road, Heims said.
A 34-year-old woman, driving a Mazda CX5, passed by at that point and struck the man, Heims said. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital for
treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He had also been drinking alcohol, Heims added.
There was no word on whether the driver was cited.
