Pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 5

CARLSBAD (KUSI) – Traffic along the northbound Interstate 5 was back up to speed Thursday following an early morning collision that left one person dead.

According to CHP, the victim was walking south on the side of the freeway and was struck by a vehicle near Carlsbad Village Drive around 4 a.m. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately after the crash.

One lane of the northbound 5 was closed by the CHP, but was reopened by 5:45 a.m.
