People in Lakeside are concerned about sand mine project

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A proposed project in East County has a lot of people pretty upset.

It’s a sand mining operation that will last almost 20 years. It’s in the early stages, but a meeting Wednesday night was standing room only.

El Monte Nature Preserve LLC are announcing that they have entered into an agreement with West Coast Aggregates to be the operator for their sand extraction project.

*NOTE* – EnviroMINE is a consultant on the project, and the estimates are that 3 million tons of sand are brought in every year.
