Person robbed at gunpoint near San Diego State University

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A trio of thieves carried out an armed robbery this afternoon in an alley just south of San Diego State University.

The robbers, men who appeared to be in their early to mid-20s, approached a pedestrian in the access road off the 5700 block of Montezuma Road and asked for cigarettes about 4:15 p.m., according to the SDSU Police Department.

One of the thieves then pulled a small handgun, and he and his accomplices stole a cellphone, vaping pen and pocketknife from the victim before fleeing the area on foot.

No injuries were reported.
