Photographer catches powerful image before Clinton Rally

NEW HAMPSHIRE (KUSI) – At Hillary Clinton’s New Hampshire Rally Tuesday, a Washington Post photographer spotted something that has a tendency to make a lot of people angry: a crumpled American flag on the floor.

The image was captured prior to Clinton’s New Hampshire Rally, at Southern New Hampshire University.

The Post was quick to point out the stipulations of the U.S. Flag Code:

§176. Respect for flag:

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

Including,

(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

Americans were quick to turn to social media, expressing their discontent for what was captured.
