Point Loma-area fire damages home

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – No on was injured in a Point Loma-area fire that occurred at about 11 a.m. Monday after food left unattended on a hot stove turned into a blaze, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The non-injury fire in the 1100 block of Catalina Boulevard caused an estimated $280,00 worth of damage, authorities reported.

A nanny who was babysitting at the time was able to get her and the child she was watching out of the house safely, Capt. Joe Amador said.

It too firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze which spread from the kitchen of the single-story home to the attic. 

The monetary damage was estimated to be $250,000 in structural losses and $30,000 in contends, Amador said.
