Police arrest man after moped and foot chase

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Police arrested a man after he led them on a street and foot chase. 

Officers attempted to pull the man over for not wearing a helmet while riding a moped. The man failed to yield and instead took off on the moped for a few blocks before ditching it and running on foot, jumping fences in attempt to escape.

The pursuit happened at Polk Avenue and 51st Street at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

The man’s name was not immediately available, but he was caught and placed under arrest for evading police and being in possession of a controlled substance.
