Police chase ends with crash near Miramar golf course
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A man wanted on a pair of arrest warrants led officers
Thursday on a brief road chase that ended when he crashed the car he was driving
into two other vehicles near Miramar Memorial Golf Course and was taken into
custody.
Andrew Marcinowski, 22, allegedly sped away from San Diego police in a
black 1999 Honda sedan in the area of Camino Santa Fe and Mira Mesa Boulevard
about 2:45 p.m., public-affairs Lt. Kevin Mayer said.
The pursuit proceeded to the south and east for less than 10 minutes
before the fleeing motorist got into the three-vehicle collision at Carroll and
Miramar roads.
Emergency crews freed Marcinowski from the damaged Honda, which came to
rest upside-down in the roadway, and took him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La
Jolla for treatment of minor injuries. He was then released into police
custody.
The occupants of the other vehicles involved in the crash did not
require medical attention, Mayer said.
Marcinowski was expected to be booked into county jail on suspicion of
the crimes alleged in the outstanding warrants — possession of stolen property
and being under the influence of a controlled substance — as well as evading
police and other charges related to the road chase.
