Police investigate human remains found near Border Wall

IMPERIAL BEACH (KUSI) – United States Border Patrol agents were tracking an undocumented immigrant when they spotted human body parts near the Border Wall in the Tijuana River near the Las Americas Premium Outlets, police said.

San Diego police and homicide detectives were called to the scene at 8:05 this morning to investigate.

The unidentified person found today on Dairy Mart Road and Clear Water Way appeared to have been there for some time and there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body and an autopsy will be performed Sunday.

“It is possible the body was carried by the Tijuana River across the border into the United States,” said Acting Lt. Michelle Velovich of the San Diego Police Department.

The death was being investigated by San Diego Police Department homicide detectives.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
