Police investigating homicide in City Heights

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – An investigation was under way Thursday into the death of
a 20-year-old man, found clinging to life in City Heights, police said.

A friend found the victim not breathing and suffering from “visible
signs of trauma” on the living room floor of a house in the 3500 block of
Fairmount Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police
homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney.

The friend called 911 and paramedics arrived to take the victim to a
trauma center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m., Rooney said in a

Earlier Wednesday evening, the victim and the friend who found him had
been together but parted ways around 10:30 p.m., Rooney said, noting the friend
returned an hour later to visit for a second time.

No arrests were immediately made and detectives were looking for a man
and woman who are believed to be the renters of the house where the homicide
occurred, Rooney said.

“The victim's cause of death will not be revealed to protect the
integrity of the investigation,” the lieutenant said.

Also, the victim's name was withheld pending family notification.
