Police looking for suspects who robbed man in Grossmont Center parking lot

LA MESA (CNS) – Police were on the lookout Wednesday for a gunman and four accomplices who robbed the owner of a party bus at the Grossmont Center and escaped with some of his property.

As passengers were filing onto the bus at the mall on Grossmont Center Drive around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, the victim was walking back to his personal vehicle and was approached by five men, according to a La Mesa Police Department statement.

One man drew a black semi-automatic pistol and the group demanded the victim’s property, police said. The five then sped off in a white four-door Chevrolet sedan and headed west on Grossmont Center Drive, according to the statement. A subsequent search of the area was unsuccessful.

The gunman was described as black, in his 20s, and about 5-feet-9, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt, black pants and a black do rag. Another suspect was black, 19 or 20 years old, with a black ponytail and a green flannel shirt. The other three men were only described as black, 18 to 20 and between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-11.

Anyone with information on the robbery was asked to call police at (619) 667-1400 or contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or, via email, at sdcrimestoppers.com.
