Police make arrest in fatal shootings in Palm City and Chula Vista
CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – San Diego Homicide Detectives and Chula Vista Detectives arrested a man Friday in connection to the murders of both Roberto Soria and Luaiza Burgos-De La Torre.
Luis Alberto Ruiz, 27, of Chula Vista was in-custody on another matter at the time of being booked.
On July 9, at approximately 11:00 p.m., San Diego Police Officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 2600 block of Gould Lane.
Officers found two male victims,’ ages 25 and 22 years-old, in the street suffering from gunshot wound(s). Both males were transported to a local hospital by medics.
The 25 year-old victim, Roberto Soria, died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 22 year-old victim continues to recover from his injuries.
About one hour after the shooting in the City of San Diego, Chula Vista Police Officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Quintard Avenue.
At that location, they found 24 year-old Luaiza Burgos-De La Torre suffering from gunshot wound(s) and she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Ruiz is scheduled to be arraigned in San Diego Superior Court on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
