Police offer $1K for coaster assault suspect

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The San Diego Sheriffs Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a man who assaulted a Coaster train operator last week.

The conductor was left with a mild concussion and numerous lacerations, authorities said, after attempt to kick the man off the train last Wednesday morning.

Witnesses said the man was “acting strangely” on a trip from Oceanside to San Diego. One of the passengers hit the button to alert the conductor who arrived to remove the man off the train. The conductor attempted to kick the man off the train at the Old Town station.

The man initially appeared to comply but as the conductor turned away from him, the man punched the conductor in the face. The conductor’s glasses fell off and his nose started to bleed.

The suspect was last seen running off the train. is described as 30 to 35 years old, 6 feet tall and around 170 pounds. He had dark hair, a light beard and was seen wearing sunglasses, a black tank top, tan pants, and a blue backpack, authorities said.
