Police search for ATM thief in Tierrasanta-area

TIERRASANTA (KUSI) – 5:32 p.m. – One suspect was in jail and police were searching for a second suspect following the discovery early Sunday of an abandoned flatbed truck carrying a recently stolen ATM, in Tierrasanta.

12:42 p.m. – A stolen ATM was found in the back of a flatbed truck in Tierrasanta Sunday.

The cash machine had been removed from its moorings at the Chase Bank in the 10000 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard. Its absence was noted and reported to police at 5:50 a.m.   

The purloined ATM was found several miles away between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. It had been abandoned on Portobelo Drive, next to the Route 52
Freeway and east of Santo Road.   

A manhunt was underway for the suspects, police said.
