Police search for failed robbery suspect

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man ran from a Stockton area KFC restaurant that he tried to rob when an employee told him police officers were on their way.

The suspect used his T-shirt to cover his face. The attempt to rob the eatery at 3195 Market St. took place at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, SDPD Officer Robert Heims said.

The would-be robber, a white man in his 20s with a slender build, pulled up his T-Shirt to cover his mouth and nose before he entered the fast food location, Heims said. He then demanded money from an employee at the register.

The employee, instead, told the man that police were on the way, Heims said. In response, the bandit turned around and ran out of the restaurant, heading south on 32nd Street. No money was stolen.

The suspect was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, dark shorts and beanie, according to Heims. Anyone with information on him was urged to call the SDPD at (619) 531-2000.
