Police search for four suspects involved in fatal stabbing

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Authorities asked for the public’s help in identifying three young men involved in a stabbing that fatally wounded a pedestrian in Fallbrook last month.

The suspects appeared to be in their 20s. They attacked 33-year-old Hugh Pettigrew for unknown reasons as he walked home in the 400 block of Ammunition Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. January 22, according to sheriff’s officials.

The trio then got into a red four-door 1997 Honda Civic and were driven to a parking lot outside a nearby Albertsons market by a woman who appeared to
be in her early 20s, homicide Lt. Kenneth Nelson said.

Pettigrew managed to walk to his Alturas Road home before collapsing. Family members called 911, and medics took the victim to a hospital, where he
died 18 days later due to complications from the stab wounds.

Security cameras at businesses near the crime scene recorded images of the attackers, Nelson said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at
sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
