Police search for suspect who robbed gas station, pretended to have gun

KEARNY MESA (KUSI) – A man robbed a gas station while pretending to have a gun, then made off with an undisclosed sum of cash Friday.

According to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali, the robbery was at 4:27 a.m. at the 76 Gas Station at 3860 Kearny Mesa Road, west of State Route 163.

"The suspect simulated a gun and demanded money,” Cali said. "The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was seen.”

Cali said the suspect ran north on Convoy Street.

The suspect was described as a white man, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet-8 inches tall and weighing 150 to 155 pounds. He was wearing a black beanie with a California Bear log, a black hooded sweatshirt and white Nike shoes.

The Robbery Unit was investigating and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
