Police searching for burglary suspect

SANTEE (KUSI) – Sheriff’s deputies were looking for a suspect who allegedly used a credit card stolen during a burglary in Santee.

The victim was asleep during the burglary which happen on September 23 on the 11000 block of Woodside Avenue between 12:00 and 4:30 a.m, sheriff’s Sgt. Joel Stranger said.   

Items stolen included the victim’s purse, credit cards, cash and various U.S. Marines challenge coins, which are distributed to Marines to prove membership and to boost morale. The coins belonged to the victim’s son, Stranger said.   

The morning of the burglary at 5:40 a.m., one of the victim’s credit cards was used at a gas station in La Mesa, Stranger said.   

The suspect using the card at the station was driving in a red sedan.   

The suspect appeared to be a woman, according to a surveillance image supplied by the sheriff’s department.
