Police searching for missing 12-year-old boy of Escondido

Escondido (CNS) – Police were searching Sunday for a 12-year-old boy who ran away from his school bus while on the way home from school.

School officials at Rincon Middle School told police that the boy, Adan Francisco Marcos of Escondido, became upset while at school on Friday and said he did not want to go home, Escondido Police Lt. Chris Wynn said.

Adan got on the school bus about 2:45 p.m. and never made it home. He was last seen Friday afternoon walking away from the bus with another child, Wynn said.

The identity of the other child was unknown.

Within 24 hours of his disappearance, officers contacted all of Adan's known friends and their parents but none of them knew his whereabouts. Police also distributed missing person fliers with the boy's picture printed on them throughout local businesses, he said.

The school district issued an automated phone call to all Rincon Middle School students in hope that one of them will be able to help locate Adan, Wynn said.

He is described as Latino, 4 feet 5 inches tall, 80 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing white shorts and a black jacket.

Police asked anyone with information on Adan's whereabouts to call the department at (760) 839-4722.
