Police searching for suspects who stole merchandise from phone store

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Police were asking the public for help Thursday in identifying three men who stole more than $6,500 worth of merchandise from a cell phone store in Kearny Mesa, among other similar crimes.

According to San Diego police and Crime Stoppers, the three men walked into the Spring Mobile store on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard near Convoy Street as its employee was working in the back of the store shortly before 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15.

They tore several phones and tablets from their display cases.

The worker heard the noise and confronted one of the suspects but was ordered to stay put as the robbers continued to ransack the business, authorities said. They ran from the store with about $6,500 worth of merchandise and escaped before officers arrived.

The same men are suspected of similar robberies in and around Kearny Mesa, according to police and Crime Stoppers. All three were described as black men with medium builds in their late teens or early 20s who were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call police at (858) 495-7957 or to contact Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477 or via email at sdcrimestoppers.org.
