Update: South Bay woman with dementia found safe in Tijuana

 SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Tuesday —  A 66-year-old woman with dementia who was reported missing from San Diego turned up safely today in Mexico, police said.

Rosa Castellanos was located about midnight in Tijuana and is being returned to San Diego by family, said Sgt. Peter Brown of the San Diego Police Department.

Castellanos, who was last seen Friday when she walked away from her home near Del Sol and Dennery roads, appeared to be safe and unharmed, Brown said.

Facebook posts about Castellanos being a missing person led the family to locate her in Tijuana, Brown said, but details of her 3-day odyssey were not immediately known.

Monday — Police asked for the public’s help Sunday in finding a 66-year-old woman with dementia missing since Friday.

Rosa Castellanos walked away Friday from her home near Del Sol and Dennery roads on Friday and has not been seen since, according to the San Diego
police.

Castellanos stands about 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 160 pounds, the SDPD said. She speaks only Spanish.

She was last seen wearing a beige sweater, brown shirt and black shoes, police said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts was asked to call the SDPD at (619) 531-2000.
