Police: Teen shooting a result of gang violence
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A shooting in the Teralta West neighborhood that left a 17-year-old boy wounded was likely gang-related, San Diego police said Tuesday.
The teen and a few companions were approached and issued a gang challenge by a group of four people shortly before gunfire rang out in the 4000 block of 42nd Street near University Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Monday, said San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. The boy was struck once in his chest. The suspect’s group then ran off toward Van Dyke Avenue, Delimitros said.
A description of the shooter was not immediately available. Delimitros said the victim’s wound was not considered life-threatening.
