Political newcomer sets sights on Congressional seat

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A political newcomer is ready to take on a veteran Congressional lawmaker in San Diego. 33-year-old, Jose Caballero, filed his election papers this week to run against Democrat Susan Davis in the 53rd Congressional District.

The young Democrat, who describes himself as a progressive plans to challenge Davis in the primary.

He’ll face an uphill battle against an incumbent who is now in her tenth term in Washington. Caballero said that’s part of the problem.

“I think voters are at a point where they’re tired of the same old status quo,” he said.

KUSI’s Sasha Foo found out more about the candidate’s background and why he’s seeking a seat in Congress.
