Pomerado Hospital renamed Palomar Medical Center Poway

POWAY (KUSI) — Pomerado Hospital was renamed Palomar Medical Center Poway, Palomar Health announced Tuesday.

"Pomerado Hospital has been an important part of the Poway community since 1977,” said Bob Hemker, president and CEO of Palomar Health.

"The new name `Palomar Medical Center Poway’ better reflects that it is part of an innovative, comprehensive healthcare system,” Hemker said. "The warm community feeling that makes it a special place will always be part of the hospital.”

Palomar Health facilities — including Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Palomar Medical Center Downtown Escondido — are all now named for their locations.

The hospital has 107 beds for acute care and, among other things, provides 24-hour emergency services, labor and delivery, a neonatal intensive care unit, cardiovascular care and orthopedic services.
