Port Chairman Rafael Castellanos to run for County Supervisor

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Port Commissioner Rafael Castellanos recently announced his run for San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 2020.

Castellanos said he is running for the District 1 open seat currently held by soon to be termed-out Supervisor Greg Cox.

San Diego Supervisor District 1 encompasses the South Bay region of San Diego County, including the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, Coronado and communities in the southern portion of the City of San Diego.

Castellanos says his primary focus is growing the region’s economy and to ensure that all families are given a chance for a better future.

In the wake of a state audit that criticized the county’s response to the 2016 hepatitis a crisis, Castellanos says the county needs to do more to help people who are mentally ill and living on the street.
