Port of San Diego Commissioner Rafael Castellanos with the latest on Tijuana River sewage
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A powerful new political voice is stepping up to try and stop Mexican sewage from pouring into San Diego.
Port of San Diego Commissioner Rafael Castellanos spoke to KUSI’s Dan Plante about the sewage crisis in the Tijuana River Valley.
Currently, millions of gallons of raw sewage is pouring into the ocean and could keep flowing all summer long.
Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina said “this could be the worst round of pollution we have ever seen coming at us. In 2017, we had 250 million gallons spilled, now we have 50 million gallons, a minimum of 50 million gallons every single day.”
