Portable classroom catches fire at National City Middle School

NATIONAL CITY (CNS) – A fire of unknown origin damaged a portable classroom at a South Bay intermediary school Monday.

The blaze at National City Middle School was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m., a dispatcher said. Students were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported, according to police.

It took crews about 15 minutes to subdue the flames.

Investigators remained at the D Avenue campus in the late afternoon, working to determine the cause of the fire, the dispatcher said.
