Portion of northbound 805 to close overnight

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A portion of the northbound Interstate 805 will be closed Monday night into Tuesday morning as Caltrans crews will work to widen a freeway bridge.

The freeway was scheduled to be shut down between Nobel Drive and Mira Mesa Boulevard from 9:30 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Caltrans, motorists will will be detoured onto westbound state Route 52 then onto northbound Interstate 5, and those traveling north from La Jolla Village Drive, Miramar Road and Governor and Nobel drives will take southbound Interstate 805 to westbound state Route 52, then onto northbound Interstate 5.

Officials have said the closures are necessary so that crews working on the roughly $86 million first stage of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project could widen a bridge by adding carpool lanes on both sides leading up to Mira Mesa Boulevard.
