Potential Charger Girls compete in final audition

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – They are beautiful, talented and athletic and Thursday night, they were very nervous.

Seventy women are waiting to find out if they will be chosen to be this season’s Charger Girls.

There were a lot of talented young ladies sparkling at the Sheraton Harbor Island Thursday night hoping to make it through the final round of the Charger Girls audition.

Snap, turn, high kick and don’t forget to smile!

Over 70 girls had to remember those very things as they performed in front of a panel of judges with hopes of making the 2015-2016 Charger Girls squad.

The process started last Saturday with 300 girls registering for the team.

After several performances and a one-on-one interview, the group was narrowed down to the 70 performers at the final dance audition.

Veteran Charger Girls do not secure a spot on the team as Delani Diaz shared.

She has to work just as hard this year to wear the uniform she’s worn before, but she understands and appreciates the process.

With all the talk of the Chargers potentially moving out of San Diego, the auditions still pulled in a pretty big crowd.

The new 2015-2016 squad will be announced Friday.
