Poway student wins countywide Spelling Bee

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The 50th Annual Countywide Spelling Bee winner is 14-year-old Elliott Husseman from Poway.

Elliott Husseman, an 8th-grader at Inspire Charter Schools, correctly spelled “voiturette” to win Thursday. “Voiturette” means a small usually two-seater car.

The 14-year-old will now go on to represent San Diego County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Md., in May.

“This wouldn’t be possible for me without the great support of my family,” said Elliott, who credited his mother, father, and uncle in his success.
