Power outage leaves 2000 without power in San Diego

According to San Diego Gas & Electric’s website, a power outage occurred at around 8:20 AM Sunday, June 10th, and left more than 2000 people without power.

The power outage affected residents in La Presa, Spring Valley, Rancho San Diego, Paradise Hills, Skyline, and Bay Terraces.

The outage was caused by a mylar balloon making contact with power lines.

SDGE estimated that the power would be restored around 11:00 AM Sunday.

According to San Diego Gas and Electric spokesman Joe Britton, the balloon triggered the outage at 8:21 a.m. when it brushed against a line in the 8200 block of San Vicente Street.

Crews were able to restore power by 11 a.m., Britton said.
