Power restored to over 2,000 left without power in South San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A power outage Friday left several thousand homes and businesses in southwestern San Diego County without electrical service for part of the morning.

The blackout hit shortly before 7 a.m., initially affecting about 2,100 addresses in Bonita, Eastlake, Otay Mesa and Sunnyside, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

As of 11:45 a.m., crews had restored service to all but 291 customers, SDG&E reported. The remainder were expected to be back online by early evening, according to the utility.

The cause of the outage was under investigation.
